Guide to Using DOQQs from the ARIA Site

Software Options for Viewing Images

The software you use depends on what you want to do. If all you want to do is to view the image, there are several options available to you. The DOQQs are in GeoTIFF format, a geo-referenced version of the TIFF format. If you have geographic information systems software, image processing, or image rendering program, you can easily read and display DOQQ files.

In the Library, we have ArcGIS at the GIS computers in the Main Library and Science-Engineering Library's Information Commons. If you'd like step-by-step instructions on how to bring in a DOQQ file once you've downloaded it, click here.  More information about GIS in the UA Library is available at the GIS-AZU web page.

Listed below are three freeware programs you can download from the Web and use to view GeoTIFF files:

You can also use programs that will view TIFF files, such as Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, and other image programs. Both Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop are available at the Main and Science-Engineering Library's Information Commons.
