Library Work Stations
GIS WORKSTATIONS IN THE MAIN LIBRARY: The GIS workstation is located in the Information Commons on the 1st floor of the Library. The GIS workstation has ArcView 3.3 and ArcView 9.0; and various datasets, most on CD-ROM (see List of Spatial Datasets).
In addition, ArcView 3.3 and ArcView 9.0 are loaded on all the computers in the Information Commons area (close to the reference desk). All computers in the Information Commons are networked to the black/white printers, color printers and plotter (for large print-outs of maps).
What can Information Commons Help Desk staff provide?
- Refer and show basics of the Arizona Electronic Atlas (http://atlas.library.arizona.edu)
- Show people the GIS computer (or where to find ArcView software on any of the Information Commons computers) and location of spatial data in the Information Commons.
- For any in-depth questions that reference staff cannot answer or how to create custom-designed maps, refer to the GIS resource staff .(listed below).
What can Library GIS Specialist staff provide?
- Additional assistance in manipulation, querying, customizing, displaying and printing geographic and attribute data.
- Load the spatial and attribute data they need that the library owns. Assistance with manipulating, customizing, querying, displaying and printing the data will be provided. An appointment will be required. Example, ArcView with spatial data from CensusCD 2000.
- Answer questions about what spatial data is available.
