Preferred Searches - Notification of New Library Material


The Preferred Searches feature allows you to save a catalog search to your personal library account for easy reference.  The Preferred Searches feature also allows you to receive an automatic notice via email when a new item matching your search criteria is received by the library.

How to Save a Preferred Search

  • Login to My Account.
  • Click the Search Catalog link.
  • Search the catalog by Keyword,  Author, Title or Subject.
  • On the search results screen, click the Save as Preferred Search button above the search results list.

How to View Your Preferred Searches

  • Login to My Account using the instructions above.  OR If you are already logged in, click the Return To Your Record button.
  • Click on the Preferred Searches link.
  • You will see a list of the searches you have saved.

How to Receive an email when the library gets a new title matching one of your Preferred Searches

  • Login to My Account using the instructions above.
  • Click the Preferred Searches link.
  • Click in the check box under the
    Mark for Email
    column to the left of the search.
  • Click the Update List button.

How to Remove a Preferred Search

When the Library receives new materials matching your search criteria, you will be notified by email that the material is expected to be in the Library and available for checkout within approximately 10 days.  (Please note: Depending on the source of the material, there can be a delay of up to 20 days between when our system automatically sends your notice and when the materials are available for check out.)  If you have any problems locating material, please check with the staff at any Information Desk or the Information Commons Reference desk located at the Main Library.
