Best Practices in Copyright and Fair Use for User Generated Content prepared by American University's Center for Social Media and the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property at AU's Washington College of Law recommends approaches that " allow users to make remixes, mashups, and other common online genres with the knowledge that they are staying within copyright law."
