These observations can be weather land surface observations, ocean (marine) atmospheric observations, weather upper atmospheric observations, weather radar observations, weather satellite observations (images or data).

NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research)
Established in 1960, NCAR serves as a focus for research on atmospheric and related science problems. Areas of study include climate change, changes in atmospheric composition, Earth-Sun interactions, weather formation and forecasting and impact on human society.

United States Department of Commerce site that links to the National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service, National Weather Service, Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, National Ocean Service, and NOAA Fisheries web sites. A wealth of atmospheric and related information.
Provides access to recent climate data as well as forecasts and forecast models, satellite images and much more.
