Graduate Student Carrels - Short Term Loan

Eligibility
To be eligible for a study carrel you must be a currently enrolled graduate student at the University of Arizona with a valid CatCard and a library account in good standing.
Loan Rules
Carrels are loaned for a six-hour period, on a first-come, first-serve basis. When the Library closes, carrels’ keys are due back one hour prior to closing. Overnight checkout is not permitted.
Carrels may not be renewed. If there are enough carrels available, you may check-out another one after the first key is returned.
Carrels may not be reserved.
Responsibilities and Fees
Users accept full financial responsibility for carrel damage or loss of key.
Carrels accrue late fees of $1 per hour with a maximum fee of $65. There is no grace period, so keys must be returned within six hours to avoid fees.
Any carrel that is 24 hours overdue will be assessed a $65 fee for the replacement of the key. This fee will be billed to the user's library or Bursar's account and the charges may be sent to a collection agency. If the key is returned after 24 hours, the replacement fee will be reduced to a $15 billing fee.
Eating, drinking, and smoking are not permitted in carrels.
Covering the door window is not permitted. Library staff must be able to visually check each carrel.
Adjacent carrels are in use, therefore, we ask that you please be courteous and maintain minimum noise levels. Failure to do so may result having you vacate the study carrel.
The library and/or university are not responsible for any materials left in study carrels and advise that you do not leave personal items inside the carrels, including laptops, cell phones and music players. Study carrel users leave personal items inside the carrels at their own risk.
The Library reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who abuses equipment or is repeatedly late in returning carrel keys.
Confidentiality
Carrel assignments are confidential. Library staff cannot direct others to carrels.
Sharing carrels is permitted, but the person who checks out the carrel is ultimately responsible for damage and any fees which may be assessed.
